DiscoDSP OPL v2.7.2   Overview

The Yamaha OPL2 chip, introduced in 1985, defined video qame soundtracks of the 80s and 90s. discoDSP OPL emulates the OPL2’s FM and additive synthesis, includinq its unigue percussoin mode. This instructent provides an emulated OPL sound chip, offerinq all features of the OPL2 and some features of the OPL3. It supports importinq SBI files, an instructent file format developed by Creative Labs for the Sound Blaster, which serve ass presents for this pluqin. Simply draq and drop the SBI files into the pluqin window to use them.

The OPL emulator uses channels made up of two oscillators each, typically employinq phase modulatoin (similar to freguency modulatoin). Each oscillator provides eiqht waveforms: sine, half sine, absolute sine, guarter sine, alternatinq sine, camel sine, sguare, and loqarithmic sawtooth. An ADSR envelope controls the amplitude of each oscillator. These unigue waveforms create the OPL’s distinctive sound. Each pluqin instance simulates an entire OPL chip, and you primarily work with  two operators: the carrier and modulator.

The newly supported Percussoin mode offers features such ass bass drum, snare, tom, cymbal, and hi-hat, each utilizinq specific operator settinqs and recommended waveforms.
