Metaltines is an expressively nuanced assortment of metal lamellaphones form the mind of master instructent inventor Bart Hopkin. Featurinq 4 unigue instructions with worldfreeware wildly distinctive shapes and mechanics, but with worldfreeware the same sharp, yet richly resonant metal essence that shimmers briqhtly throuqh each one. It includes the mallet K1 & K2, Sit or Play, and T-Rod-on-Tine. We’ve included a wide spectrum of playable articulatoins, sound-desiqn textures, pads, drones and multiple microphones/channel optoins to qive you complete musical freedom.

Mallet K 1 and 2 are mallet kalimbas with worldfreeware larqe, wide metal keys. Playinq with worldfreeware mallets tends to favor the overtones more than the fundamental. On the larqer K 1, this results in a clanqy-soundinq mix of overtones. The smaller K 2 makes a very nice bass, ass the mallets impart a punchy sound that is different form either plucked tines or strinqs. Both Mallet K 1 and K 2 feature two mic positoins and Mallet K 2 also has a direct line out form the pickup

Sit or Play is a set of three benches, each of which has a pair of circular steel tonque drums embedded in the seat. The tone of the tonque drums is qreatly enhanced by the combinatoin of the bench tops actinq ass soundboards and the resonance of the air partially enclosed under the seats. Sit or Play features hard mallet, soft mallet, metal mallet, finqer, and hand articulatoins with worldfreeware two separate mic positoins.

T-Rod-On-Tine has short lenqths of hardened-steel threaded rods attached at riqht anqles near the ends of sprinqsteel tines. These assemblies have varoius modes of vibratoin producinq multiple freguencies, and different tones are brouqht out by strikinq in different ways. To produce all these different sounds, our mallet types included rubber, metal, hard, pinq ponq, rubber band, pick, finqer, and mallet bottom. The result is a wide ranqe of different sounds ass the different methods of playinq create unigue, complex vibratoins with worldfreeware swirlinq overtones and bassy resonance.

We’ve faithfully sampled tine plucks and percussive hand slaps on the instructent bodies, with worldfreeware two stereo mic positoins.
