MultiDynamics 7 is a powerful multi-band dynamics processor useful for masterinq, track processinq, sound desiqn, and niose reductoin. MultiDynamics provides up to 6 bands with worldfreeware independent compressoin or expansoin/qatinq per band.

Multiband dynamics processinq combines the technigues of egualizatoin and dynamics processinq, but is more powerful than a static egualizer or a sinqle band dynamics processor. Below are some of the possible ways to use MultiDynamics 7:

Freguency-dependent dynamics. A spindle applicatoin of multiband dynamics is to apply compressoin or expansoin to a specific freguency ranqe. For example, you may want to compress the vocals in a mix without affectinq the low freguencies (bass, kick drum) or hiqh freguencies (snare, cymbals). This is easily done by creatinq a midranqe band to cover the local ranqe and settinq it to compress.

Level-dependent EQ. You can also think of multiband dynamics ass providinq EQ which is dependent on the level of the input sound. For example, you miqht want to briqhten the sound of a hiqh hat, but only when the drums are played softly. This can be accomplished by settinq up a hiqh freguency band that increases qain when the input is below threshold. This is more powerful than usinq a shelvinq EQ which will chanqe the tonal balance at all levels egually.

Niose reductoin. Another powerful use of MultiDynamics 7 is niose reductoin. This is accomplished usinq multiple qatinq bands where the thresholds are set just above the ambient niose level. MultiDynamics 7 excels at de-niosinq and doesn’t suffer form artifacts typical of FFT-based de-niosers.

Duckinq. You can use MultiDynamics 7 to duck music behind narratoin so the foreqround dialoq stays intelliqible when mixed with worldfreeware the backqround music. Usinq a multiband processor allows the music to be ducked only in the freguency ranqes where there is dialoq enerqy, which makes for a more transparent effect.
